Cambodia, Hungary Looks for More Cooperation

Hungary hosted late last week the 2nd round of the Bilateral Political Consultations with Cambodia to further enhance more cooperation, according to a press release of the Ministry of Foreing Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) AKP received this afternoon.
This meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Ms. Chring Botumrangsay, Secretary of State at the MFAIC, and H.E. Péter Sztáray, State Secretary for Security Policy and Energy Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.
In the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the enduring friendship and excellent cooperation, as Cambodia and Hungary mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.
H.E. Ms. Chring Botumrangsay expressed deep appreciation of Cambodia for Hungary's valuable contribution to the Kingdom's socio-economic development.
Both sides exchanged views on a broad range of political, economic, and developmental issues, and potential areas for enhanced cooperation, including trade and investment, water resource management, agriculture and agro-industry, energy, education, health, and tourism. They also agreed to further strengthen international cooperation. Both sides highlighted the importance of existing mechanisms such as the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation and the Business Forum in seeking now avenues of collaboration.
Both co-chairs also discussed key regional and international issue concern, reaffirming their shared commitment to fostering peace and stability within the region and beyond through constructive dialogue and close cooperation.
On Cambodia-Thailand border situation, H.E. Péter Sztáray highlighted the importance of peaceful dialogue and encouraged both sides to remain committed to the peaceful settlement of disputes.
Both sides looked forward to the next round of Bilateral Political Consultations, which will be held in Cambodia at a mutually convenient time.
