Sihanoukville Not to be Locked Down, PM Hun Sen

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has confirmed that Sihanoukville of Preah Sihanouk province will not be shut down despite the growing number of COVID-19 positive cases.
The Premier made the confirmation in a voice clip shared to the media tonight, explaining, "We cannot close down the city because it is related to the import and export of goods."
Samdech Techo Hun Sen instructed the competent authorities to stop people's movement out of Preah Sihanouk province in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic to other provinces.
"We must well manage the situation which is getting worse, and the most important is to find way to prevent the spread from Preah Sihanouk province to other provinces," he said.
At the same time, the Prime Minister advised to boost the vaccination at the coastal province, underlining that more vaccines, both Sinopharm and AstraZeneca, will be transported there tomorrow.
As of this morning, Cambodia recorded 878 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 374 are related to the Feb. 20 Community Event, the latest cluster infections in the Kingdom.
Among the 374 community cases, 62 were detected in Preah Sihanouk province.
