Chinese vaccine against COVID-19 will arrive in Phnom Penh this weekend, Chinese Ambassador said.
H.E. Wang Wentian, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cambodia said at the opening ceremony of a training course held at Preah Ket Mealea Hospital in Phnom Penh on Feb. 3 that the joint fight against COVID-19 between China and Cambodia is a model for international cooperation in combating the pandemic.
The ambassador expressed his belief that the upcoming vaccination will play a positive role in restoring Cambodia's socio-economic development.
A team of Chinese vaccine specialists on Wednesday provided a training to some 300 Cambodian medical staff on how to use the anti-COVID-19 vaccine ahead of its arrival.
Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the National Defence said the first batch of 600,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines donated by China will be arriving in the country “soon”.
He said under the course, four Chinese vaccine experts would present the vaccines to Cambodian doctors and gave instructions regarding procedures for care, storage, usage and transport.
“China is the best friend who has helped support the government, the army and the people of Cambodia,” he said. “I’d like to thank the government, the People’s Liberation Army and the people of China for their generous donation of this anti-COVID-19 vaccine and for sending medical experts to Cambodia.”
