MoU on Supply and Order of Agro-trade Products Signed
AKP Phnom Penh, January 25, 2021 --
Food and Agriculture Market and LyLy Food Industry Co., Ltd. reached a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Supply and Order of Agro-trade Products (vegetables).
The signing ceremony was held recently in Siem Reap province under the presidency of H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Pan Sorasak laid stress on the effort of Ministry of Commerce in boosting agro-trade products to supply domestic market and increase incomes of farmers as there have been high demand, but the supply is unclear and limited, both in quality and quantity, resulting in price fluctuation.
The ministry, which executes the Accelerating Inclusive Markets for Stallholders (AIMS) project began improving the connection between production and market, he underlined.
The above-said MoU is another fruitful achievement of AIMS in connecting producers, buyers, and processing factories, which contributes to national economic development and increase in local people’s income, H.E. Minister added.
H.E. Pan Sorasak also recommended both sides cooperate and maintain the quantity and quality to ensure sustainability of the supply and order process, share information and coordinate with all relevant parties to deal with challenges to the process.
The AIMS has been being implemented in eight districts with 150 groups of farmers. With the MoU, LyLy Food Industry Co., Ltd. needs about 2 tonnes of vegetables per day.
