Cambodian Ambassador Promotes Cooperation with South Australia During Adelaide Visit
AKP Phnom Penh, August 19, 2026 —
H.E. Nom Piseth, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cambodia to Australia, paid a working visit to Adelaide, South Australia, from Aug. 14 to 15, aimed at further promoting cooperation between Cambodia and South Australia.
During the visit, H.E. Nom Piseth paid a courtesy call on and held discussions with H.E. the Hon. Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, and met with several members of the South Australian Government, including the Hon. Clare Scriven MLC, Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development; the Hon. Emily Bourke MLC, Minister for Environment and Water and Minister for Tourism; and the Hon. Lucy Hood MP, Minister for Education, Skills and Training.
During the meetings, H.E. Nom Piseth and South Australian leaders spoke highly of the excellent relations and close cooperation between Cambodia and Australia and discussed ways to further promote cooperation between Cambodia and South Australia.
Potential areas of cooperation highlighted during the discussions included education, vocational training, tourism, agriculture and renewable energy.
In addition to meeting with South Australian government leaders, H.E. Nom Piseth participated in two roundtable discussions organised by StudyAdelaide.
The first focused on promoting higher education cooperation between Cambodia and South Australia, while the second discussed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and potential cooperation with Cambodia.
During his stay in Adelaide, the ambassador also attended a cultural event hosted by the Cambodian Association in South Australia, where he met with members of the Cambodian community and enjoyed traditional Khmer artistic performances organised to promote Cambodian national identity among foreigners.
