Cambodia, Laos Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation and Trade

Cambodia and Laos have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing parliamentary cooperation and expanding bilateral trade, investment and connectivity during a meeting between a senior Cambodian lawmaker and the newly appointed Lao ambassador.
H.E. Suos Yara, Chairman of the National Assembly's Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Information, met with H.E. Sonexay Vannaxay, Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Cambodia, on Monday afternoon at the National Assembly Palace.
The two sides exchanged views on strengthening the longstanding friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two neighbouring countries, while emphasising closer collaboration between their respective legislatures through exchanges of experience, high-level visits and cooperation among parliamentary officials.
Discussions also focused on promoting trade and investment, strengthening cross-border economic cooperation, improving road and railway connectivity to facilitate the movement of goods and tourists, and expanding cultural and people-to-people exchanges to foster a peaceful, friendly and prosperous border.
H.E. Suos Yara welcomed Ambassador Sonexay on his diplomatic mission to Cambodia and reiterated the Cambodian National Assembly's commitment to working closely with its Lao counterpart to further deepen bilateral relations.
Ambassador Sonexay expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed Laos' commitment to strengthening cooperation with Cambodia across all areas of mutual interest.
