Ministry of Rural Development Launches Strategic Plan on Rural WASH 2026-2033
AKP Phnom Penh, July 28, 2026 -- The Ministry of Rural Development has officially launched its Strategic Plan on Rural Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) 2026-2033, aiming to strengthen equitable, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable access to rural water and sanitation services across the country.
The launching ceremony was held on July 28 in Phnom Penh under the presidency of H.E. Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, alongside representatives from line ministries and relevant development sectors.
Speaking at the event, H.E. Chhay Rithisen expressed his gratitude to all participants and credited Cambodia’s peace and political stability under the leadership of Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet for driving the nation’s socio-economic progress.
He affirmed that the Ministry has actively contributed to national policies and strategies by successfully preparing and implementing the first two phases of the National Action Plan on Clean Water Supply and Rural Sanitation.
At the same time, the Ministry opened a consultation workshop on the draft guidelines for verifying access to safe drinking water for all. H.E. Minister urged all participants to contribute actively during the workshop to ensure the proposed verification guidelines are both practical and comprehensive.
