New Singapore Ambassador to Cambodia Pledges to Further Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet on Tuesday received H.E. Pang Chee Wee, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Cambodia, for a courtesy call and working discussion at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, Ambassador Pang Chee Wee expressed satisfaction with the progress of bilateral relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore, noting that the frequent exchanges between leaders of the two countries reflected the close ties and strong partnership between the two nations.
The Ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation across a wide range of key sectors. He highlighted Singapore’s continued efforts to promote cooperation in food and agricultural products, particularly exports to the Singaporean market, logistics and connectivity, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
He also noted that Singapore views Cambodia’s young workforce as highly capable and full of potential, with opportunities for employment in Singapore. In addition, the Ambassador underlined the importance of ongoing cooperation with Cambodian ministries and institutions in capacity building through training programmes and technical assistance for civil servants.
In response, Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet congratulated H.E. Pang Chee Wee on his appointment as Singapore’s new Ambassador to Cambodia and expressed confidence that bilateral relations and cooperation would continue to deepen during the Ambassador’s diplomatic tenure.
Samdech Thipadei highly valued the longstanding friendship and broad cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed Cambodia’s readiness to further strengthen ties and explore new opportunities for cooperation with Singapore at both bilateral and regional levels.
Regarding TVET cooperation, Samdech Thipadei praised the strong partnership and noted that the Royal Government of Cambodia has tasked the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training with implementing the “New Education Pathway” programme. The initiative aims to provide vocational orientation and technical skills training for youth and high school students based on their talents and abilities, in line with current and future labour market demands.
The two sides also discussed enhancing cooperation in other priority sectors, including trade and investment, defence and security, energy, healthcare, biodiversity conservation, and ecotourism.
The Cambodian Premier encouraged Ambassador Pang Chee Wee to continue working closely with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to further advance cooperation and achieve more fruitful outcomes for the mutual benefit of both countries and peoples.
