Cambodia’s Rice Exports to China Jump 83% in First Four Months

Cambodia’s rice exports to China recorded strong growth in the first four months of 2026, reflecting rising demand and the positive impact of bilateral trade agreements on the Kingdom’s agricultural sector.
According to the Cambodia Rice Federation, the Kingdom exported 129,332 tonnes of rice to China between January and April this year, representing a sharp year-on-year increase of 83 percent. The exports generated a revenue of US$75.88 million.
H.E. Wang Wenbin, Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, lauded the positive the move of Cambodia’s commodity export to China.
“This demonstrates that the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and the China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement are boosting the agricultural trade of Cambodia,” he wrote on a Facebook post on May 12.
Mr. Lun Yeng, Secretary-General of the Cambodia Rice Federation, said China remains a big market for Cambodia’s rice industry, absorbing 28 percent of the Kingdom's total rice exports in the first four months of 2026.
He also pointed to continued cooperation between the Cambodian government and Chinese partners to further expand rice exports.
In 2025, Cambodia and China signed a new agreement to increase the quota for Cambodian milled rice exports to China to 500,000 tonnes, up 25 percent from the previous quota of 400,000 tonnes.
