Azerbaijan Eyes Expansion of Cooperation with Cambodia in Agriculture, Tourism, and Trade

Azerbaijan has expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Cambodia in key sectors including agriculture, tourism, and trade, as part of efforts to further strengthen bilateral economic ties.
According to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, the remarks were made by H.E. Elchin Amirbayov, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments, during a courtesy call and working discussion with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, on Tuesday morning at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace.
During the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation and highly valued the visit as an important contribution to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He expressed satisfaction with the continued progress in bilateral relations and encouraged further expansion in areas of mutual interest.
H.E. Elchin Amirbayov praised Cambodia’s rapid socio-economic development and noted the positive trajectory of relations between the two countries. He emphasised that significant potential remains to further deepen cooperation, particularly through enhanced political dialogue and expanded sectoral collaboration.
He also underlined Azerbaijan’s interest in promoting cooperation in agriculture, tourism, and trade, highlighting these areas as important pillars for future economic engagement between the two nations.
In response, Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the proposals and expressed his desire to see stronger bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, and economic development. He stressed that both countries possess complementary strengths that could further enhance mutual benefits.
The Acting Head of State noted that Azerbaijan, as a country rich in energy resources, and Cambodia, with strong agricultural potential and food security capacity, can complement each other effectively. He emphasised the potential for a mutually beneficial partnership, whereby Cambodia could contribute to food supply needs while Azerbaijan could support energy security for Cambodia.
