Cambodian Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Chea Chanboribo held discussions with key officials and industry representatives on Sunday to expand bilateral cooperation in tourism, culture, and education, according to diplomatic sources.

Attending World Tourism Day celebrations in Varna, Ambassador Dr. Chea Chanboribo met with Dr. Ilin Dimitrov, Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria, to discuss joint strategies for tourism development and strengthening bilateral ties.

During the meeting, Ambassador Dr. Chea Chanboribo conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Cambodian Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak. Dr. Dimitrov expressed his gratitude and reciprocated with warm greetings to Minister Huot Hak.

Ambassador Dr. Chea Chanboribo also met with representatives from the Bulgarian Tourism Association to explore new frameworks for cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting Cambodian travel destinations and developing tailored tour packages for the Bulgarian market.

Efforts by the Cambodian Embassy in Bulgaria have yielded a steady increase in Cambodian tour package promotions and market footprint across Bulgaria through 2025 and 2026, signaling growing interest among Bulgarian travelers in Cambodia's rich cultural, historical, and heritage sites.

In addition, representatives from Bulgarian higher education institutions specialising in tourism extended an invitation to Ambassador Dr. Chea Chanboribo to deliver lectures to local students on Cambodia’s history, culture, civilisation, and tourism potential, aiming to foster youth engagement and people-to-people exchanges.

The initiative highlights ongoing diplomatic efforts by the Cambodian Embassy to advance economic, cultural, and educational diplomacy and expand bilateral relations with Bulgaria.
