Cambodian Ministers Join Forces to Develop Green Tourism in Kampong Speu, Koh Kong
AKP Phnom Penh, September 8, 2026 -- Ministers from Environment, Tourism, and Rural Development convened Tuesday at the Ministry of Environment to accelerate the development of eco-tourism destinations across Kampong Speu and Koh Kong provinces.
The Ministers deliberated on expanding these potentials to contribute to improving the livelihoods of local communities, while ensuring the protection and sustainable conservation of natural resources.
The joint initiative aims to link forest landscapes, wildlife, waterfalls, and indigenous minority cultural sites into a unified green corridor across the Cardamom Mountains.
By expanding these eco-tourism hubs, the Ministers seek to boost local economies while safeguarding the region's biodiversity.
This strategy aligns directly with the Environmental Sector Strategic Framework 2023-2028 and supports the Royal Government’s Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1.
