AKP Phnom Penh, August 28, 2026 -- The 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC-2) concluded successfully in Phnom Penh on Aug. 28, marking an important milestone in strengthening international parliamentary diplomacy and cooperation for peace and shared prosperity.

Held from Aug. 26 to 28 under the theme “Solidarity for Peace and Shared Prosperity: Strengthening International Law and Resolving Conflicts Peacefully,” the three-day conference brought together legislative leaders and delegates from more than 20 countries across the Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The conference provided an important platform for parliamentarians to exchange views on complex global challenges, promote respect for international law, strengthen multilateral cooperation and seek peaceful solutions to conflicts, said H.E. Ek Nath Dhakal, Secretary-General of the ISC.

“The successful conclusion of the 2nd ISC represents another important contribution by the Kingdom of Cambodia to international parliamentary diplomacy, and it provides a foundation for continued cooperation among participating parliaments,” he said at a press conference held at the GDT Convention Center in Phnom Penh this afternoon, following the closing ceremony of ISC-2.

Established in April 2025, the ISC serves as a high-level platform for parliamentary diplomacy, bringing together legislative leaders to address global challenges, promote international cooperation, advance sustainable development and contribute to lasting peace.

The hosting of ISC-2 in Phnom Penh reflected Cambodia’s increasing engagement in parliamentary diplomacy and its commitment to contributing to regional and global efforts to promote peace, multilateralism, sustainable development and shared prosperity.

H.E. Ngy Chanphal, Member of the Cambodian Senate and Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee for ISC-2, highlighted the conference’s outcomes and diplomatic achievements.

“The conference laid a concrete foundation for continuous and structured cooperation among member parliaments, expanding the ISC’s scope beyond traditional bilateral relations,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation for the strategic leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, noting that his vision and leadership contributed to bringing together a high-level international gathering and promoting practical frameworks for global peace and cooperation.

For his part, H.E. Ek Nath Dhakal expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Cambodia for its warm hospitality and support in hosting the international delegates and the conference.

“We are very grateful to the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Because of his great leadership, we have such a distinguished gathering and excellent outcomes for the further journey of the ISC,” he said.

The ISC Secretary-General added that the successful conclusion of ISC-2 would further strengthen dialogue, parliamentary cooperation and collective action among participating countries.

Following the Phnom Penh conference, the ISC will continue its activities with the 3rd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference scheduled to be held in Indonesia in 2027, he said.

The continuation of the ISC process is expected to further promote parliamentary dialogue and cooperation, contributing to peaceful conflict resolution, respect for international law and the pursuit of shared prosperity, underlined the ISC Secretary-General.
