AKP Phnom Penh, August 27, 2026 --
More than 200 national and international journalists have gathered in Phnom Penh to cover the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC-2), turning the major parliamentary diplomacy event hosted by Cambodia into a global media spotlight.
Speaking from the Media Centre of ISC-2, H.E. Tep Asnarith, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Information who speak as a member of the Information, Publicity and IT Sub-Committee of ISC-2, more than 200 Cambodian and foreign journalists had registered to cover the conference.
H.E. Tep Asnarith said more than 10 international media organisations and major global news agencies are represented, with more than 30 international journalists from outlets including AFP, Reuters, Associated Press (AP), Xinhua, Kyodo News, EPA, China Media Group Asia-Pacific, VTV and VNA, alongside journalists from Cambodian media organisations.
“This strong media presence is an important catalyst for turning parliamentary diplomacy in Cambodia into political and economic messages that can be reflected to the world,” H.E. Tep Asnarith said, emphasising the importance of professional media coverage in promoting the significance of ISC-2 internationally.
To ensure that media operations meet international diplomatic protocol and security standards, the conference organisers have established a modern, technology-equipped Media Centre to support journalists and media organisations covering the event.
The centre serves as a multimedia hub for distributing official information, content, photographs and video footage, enabling national and international media outlets to produce and disseminate timely reports to audiences in Cambodia and around the world.
According to the spokesperson, journalists working at the Media Centre are being provided with the necessary facilities and technical support to obtain high-quality content, sound, photographs and video for news production.
Media operations have also been organised according to different levels and functions. Designated media teams are permitted to directly cover high-level meetings and important bilateral discussions, while other journalists remain at the Media Centre to receive official photographs, video and other content from the events.
“We have divided media operations according to functional levels and technical requirements, with a clear structure and designated teams authorised to directly cover high-level meetings and important discussions,” said H.E. Tep Asnarith.
The ISC-2 is emerging as a major platform for parliamentary diplomacy and an important opportunity for Cambodia to showcase its diplomatic, political and economic engagement on the international stage with peace.
Established in 2025, the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference has rapidly developed into a high-level platform for parliamentary leaders to exchange views and address global challenges. The inaugural conference was held in Islamabad, Pakistan, in November 2025 under the theme "Peace, Security and Development."
