AKP Phnom Penh, July 22, 2026 –
The Cambodian Dance Sport Federation has expressed confidence that the national team will return with medals from the Asian and ASEAN DanceSport Championships to be held in Malaysia from July 23 to 26.
A 22-member Cambodian delegation departed for Malaysia on July 22 to compete in the regional championships.
Speaking at a send-off ceremony at Techo International Airport in Kandal province, H.E. Ms. Nhem Morakot, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Women's Affairs and President of the Cambodian Dance Sport Federation, said the athletes were well prepared and expected to achieve strong results.
"Our athletes will not return empty-handed," she said, expressing confidence that the team would once again bring pride to the nation.
H.E. Nhem Morakot described the championships as an important opportunity for Cambodian dancers to gain international experience, strengthen the national team's capabilities and compete for medals on the regional stage.
She recalled that at the 2025 edition of the championships, hosted by Vietnam, Cambodia won a total of 17 medals, including four gold medals, along with several silver and bronze medals.
The federation president said she was confident the athletes would once again deliver outstanding performances, particularly as the competition categories feature comparable age groups.
According to Ms. Hang Simon, Secretary General of the Cambodian Dance Sport Federation, the delegation comprises 22 members, including head of delegation Ban Socheat, judge You Shu Jie, head coach Sov Tong, assistant coach Suon Kosal, and 18 athletes – eight men and 10 women.
