Cambodia, Japan Deepen Defence Cooperation through Official Security Assistance
AKP Phnom Penh, July 19, 2026 --
Cambodia and Japan today signed the Official Security Assistance (OSA) Project, aimed at strengthening Cambodia’s security capacity and contributing to regional and international peace and stability.
The signing took place during a courtesy and farewell meeting between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha and Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cambodia H.E. UENO Atsushi at the Ministry of National Defence in Phnom Penh.
On the occasion, H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha and Ambassador UENO signed and exchanged notes on Japan's Official Security Assistance (OSA), valued at 500 million Japanese yen (approximately US$3 million).
Under the project, Japan will provide communications equipment to the Royal Cambodian Army and patrol vessels to the Royal Cambodian Navy.
The assistance is expected to enhance Cambodia's security and deterrence capabilities while contributing to peace and stability in the international community.
