Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Kazakh President H.E. Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across a wide range of strategic sectors.
The commitment was made during their meeting on the afternoon of July 17, on the sidelines of 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the High-level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai.
During the meeting, President Tokayev expressed his pleasure at meeting the Cambodian Prime Minister and spoke highly of Cambodia's rich tourism potential. In response, Samdech Thipadei highly valued the friendly bilateral relationship, noting that 2026 marks the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Kazakhstan.
The Prime Minister welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of bilateral consultation mechanisms between the foreign ministries of the two countries, as well as an agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and official passports.
He noted that these agreements would serve as important catalysts for facilitating official travel and exchanges between government delegations, while creating greater opportunities to identify and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
The two leaders also discussed future initiatives and directions for expanding collaboration in a number of priority sectors, including trade, food security, energy security, artificial intelligence, information technology, and agriculture.
In addition, Prime Minister Hun Manet and President Tokayev exchanged views on strengthening cooperation within multilateral frameworks, including the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
