Cambodia Deports 79 Thai Nationals in Cyber-Scam, Illegal Entry Crackdown
AKP Phnom Penh, July 10, 2026 -- Cambodia has deported 79 Thai nationals and slapped them with multi-year entry bans following a major crackdown on cybercrimes and immigration violations, officials said Friday.
The deportation took place at the Poipet International Border Gate as part of Cambodia’s ongoing offensive against online scams and illegal border crossings. The group, consisting of 45 men and 34 women, was handed over to Thai authorities at the Klong Leuk checkpoint in Sa Kaeo province.
According to Brig. Gen. Y Chamroeun, chief of the Poipet International Border Gate Immigration Police Post, the deportees include 40 individuals linked to online fraud, 30 illegal immigrants, and nine who had completed prison sentences in Cambodia.
In a bid to deter recurring offences, Cambodian authorities have blacklisted the individuals from re-entering the country.
Among them, 39 face a five-year entry ban, while the remaining 40 have been barred for three years.
Cambodia has recently intensified its campaign against technology-driven crimes and syndicate operations. To date, nearly 800 Thai nationals have been detained and repatriated through the Poipet border crossing alone under the current enforcement sweep.
