Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn on Thursday received a courtesy call from Ms. Aleksandra Zittle, the newly appointed Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. of the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.

Welcoming Ms. Zittle to her second diplomatic posting in Cambodia, H.E. Prak Sokhonn expressed confidence that her tenure would help deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides discussed ways to advance the longstanding Cambodia-U.S. partnership, noting positive momentum in bilateral ties through expanding trade and investment, growing people-to-people exchanges, regular high-level engagements, and enhanced cooperation in defence, transnational crime prevention, economic development, and cultural heritage preservation. Ms. Zittle also congratulated Cambodia on its election to the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for the 2026-2030 term, while H.E. Prak Sokhonn expressed appreciation for U.S. support for the preservation of Phnom Bakheng in the Angkor Archaeological Park.

The Deputy Prime Minister also briefed Ms. Zittle on recent developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border, reiterating Cambodia's commitment to resolving disputes peacefully in accordance with international law and existing bilateral agreements. He thanked the United States for its continued support for regional peace, stability, and constructive engagement.

For her part, Ms. Zittle noted Cambodia's rapid socio-economic progress since her previous posting and commended the Royal Government's practical cooperation with the United States, particularly in the security sector. She also reaffirmed Washington's close attention to the Cambodia-Thailand border situation and welcomed Cambodia's continued commitment to resolving the issue through dialogue and diplomacy.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close dialogue and expanding practical cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries and regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
