Cambodia Highlights Strong Commitment to Human Rights at 62nd Human Rights Council

The Kingdom of Cambodia reaffirmed its strong commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights through its active participation in the 62nd regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), held from June 15 to July 8, 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday by the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva, throughout the session, the Permanent Mission of Cambodia delivered 22 statements, highlighting the Kingdom's continued progress in advancing human rights and its constructive engagement across a broad range of issues.
Cambodia actively participated in interactive dialogues and panel discussions covering economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights; health and education; gender equality; climate change; migration; trafficking in persons; access to justice; poverty reduction; humanitarian mine action; combating racism; technical cooperation; and international solidarity.
Cambodia also addressed the human rights implications of recent developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border. In statements delivered under Agenda Items 2 and 3, Cambodia called for the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of internally displaced persons, the protection of migrant workers from discrimination and violence, and full respect for international humanitarian law and international human rights law. Cambodia further reaffirmed its commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations a international law.
Demonstrating its strong support for multilateral cooperation, Cambodia co-sponsored four draft resolutions tabled by Cuba, China, Kuwait, and France on foreign debt and the right to health; technical cooperation on artificial intelligence for accessibility; humanitarian access and the protection of humanitarian personnel in armed conflict; and the universal decriminalisation of homosexuality.
Cambodia also joined ten joint statements, including those of the Asia-Pacific Group on education and health, the ASEAN statement on the human rights impacts of climate change, and joint statements on extreme poverty, technical cooperation and capacity-building, women's rights, the right to health, strengthening the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process, and the situation in the Middle East.
Cambodia also reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement with the United Nations human rights mechanisms, including continued cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and collaboration with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Cambodia.
Cambodia's active participation in the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council reflects its steadfast commitment to constructive dialogue, multilateral cooperation, and the advancement of human rights.
The Kingdom remains committed to working closely with the Human Rights Council, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Special Rapporteur, and the international community to promote peace, sustainable, and the full realisation of human rights for all.
