Banteay Meanchey Raises 100 Million Riel for Kantha Bopha in Month-Long Cycling Drive
AKP Phnom Penh, July 07, 2026 --
Banteay Meanchey province has donated 100 million Riel (US$25,000) to the Kantha Bopha Foundation, raised through a community cycling campaign held throughout June, officials confirmed Tuesday.
The handover took place Monday at Jayavarman VII Hospital in Siem Reap, led by provincial leaders.
Funds came from civil servants, armed forces, merchants, and residents across the northwestern province in a push that blended public health with humanitarian aid.
"This money comes from the hearts of our people," said Provincial Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey. "Kantha Bopha gives Cambodian children – including many from our province – a second chance at life. Supporting it is our civic duty."
Provincial Council President H.E. Phlek Vary called the nine-figure riel sum an "overwhelming success," while hospital representatives pledged full transparency in using the funds for medicine and equipment to uphold free pediatric care nationwide.
