AKP Phnom Penh, July 03, 2026 -- His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk returned to Cambodia this afternoon after undergoing medical check-ups and treatment in Beijing since February.

Their Majesties were welcomed at Techo International Airport by Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse, Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross; National Assembly President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary; Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse, Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet; and many other senior officials.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wenbin was also present to welcome Their Majesties.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of the Royal Palace on June 30, His Majesty underwent more than three months of medical treatment, surgery, and close supervision at the Royal Residence in Beijing under the care of senior medical specialists and staff in the Chinese capital.

The Ministry noted that His Majesty’s health has steadily improved during this period.

Following the recommendation of the medical team in Beijing, His Majesty has authorised doctors to continue monitoring and caring for his health at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh after his return.

In a message marking Her Majesty the Queen Mother’s 90th birthday on June 18, Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s continued attention to the health of the Cambodian monarchs and pledged to provide the best possible medical care for their check-ups and recuperation in China.
