Cambodia to Host 2nd ASEAN-India Women in Science Conclave
AKP Phnom Penh, July 03, 2026 --
The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), through the General Department of Science, Technology & Innovation (GDSTI), in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat and the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, will host the 2nd ASEAN-India Women in Science Conclave (AIWSC) in Phnom Penh from July 8-10, 2026.
Held under the theme "Building an Inclusive Science, Technology and Innovation Community," the 2026 conclave aims to build on regional movement to empower women and strengthen their roles in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The event is expected to bring together around 100 women scientists, researchers and innovators from ASEAN Member States and India.
Cambodia's hosting of the conclave supports the implementation of the country's Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Roadmap 2030 and the National Research Agenda, both of which seek to develop human capital and increase the participation of women and youth in science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
During the three-day event, Cambodia will lead discussions and competitions on four global priority areas: Food Security, Sustainable Energy Solutions, Equitable Access to Education
Emerging Technologies.
In addition to the technical sessions, participants will undertake study visits to the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) and the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) to exchange experiences and strengthen collaborative research capacity between ASEAN and India.
