AKP Phnom Penh, June 30, 2026 -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has called on the interior ministry of Cambodia and public security ministries of Laos and Vietnam to intensify trilateral cooperation to combat online scams and rising transnational crimes.

The Prime Minister made the remarks this morning at the Peace Palace during a courtesy meeting with Lao Minister of Public Security Gen. Vanthong Kongmany and Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Gen. Lương Tam Quang. The meetings followed the successful conclusion of the Second Trilateral Ministerial Meeting hosted by Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior.

The visiting ministers briefed Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on the productive outcomes of the trilateral meeting, noting that enhanced security cooperation is vital to deepening relations among the neighbouring nations.

They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding joint operations in the years ahead.

Congratulating the ministries on their achievements, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that a robust security partnership is essential to addressing increasingly complex regional challenges.

"Stronger security partnerships contribute not only to regional peace and stability, but also lay the groundwork for broader economic and political cooperation among Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam," the Prime Minister emphasized.

During the discussions, the leaders agreed to focus on several strategic areas: Intensifying joint operations against high-priority threats including online scams, human trafficking, and drug smuggling; Promoting close coordination between provincial authorities along shared borders to transform these regions into zones of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development; Deepening institutional cooperation to reinforce political trust, creating a favorable environment for expanded trade and investment; Enhancing cultural exchanges, particularly among the youth, to foster lasting friendship and mutual understanding across the three nations.

The high-level talks coincide with significant diplomatic milestones for the region. The year 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Laos, while Cambodia and Vietnam are preparing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2027.
