Unilever to Launch Local Production Lines in Cambodia, Expanding 23-Year Footprint
AKP Phnom Penh, June 30, 2026 -- Unilever, the London-headquartered multinational consumer packaged goods giant, has announced strategic plans to establish local manufacturing lines in Cambodia to deepen its market presence and meet growing consumer demand.
The expansion plan was unveiled during a courtesy call on June 29, where Mr. Ali Tariq, Unilever’s Regional General Manager for Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos, met with H.E. Cham Nimul, Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce.
Unilever aims to transition from purely importing to establishing direct production lines within Cambodia, diversifying its supply chain and offering a broader product portfolio locally.
For her part, Minister Cham Nimul highly commended Unilever’s 23-year history of operations in the Kingdom, noting the company's sustained contribution to improving consumer well-being with high-quality goods.
Mr. Ali Tariq briefed the Ministry on Unilever’s recent progress, milestones, and agility in diversifying import sources to keep pace with the evolving Cambodian market.
During the discussion, H.E. Cham Nimul reaffirmed the Ministry of Commerce’s dedicated efforts to cultivate a highly favorable, transparent, and predictable investment environment.
"The Ministry remains focused on strictly enforcing intellectual property laws, boosting market competitiveness, and ensuring a fair and level playing field for all commercial enterprises."
The Minister expressed strong optimism that Unilever’s shift toward direct local manufacturing will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, creating local jobs while providing Cambodian consumers with greater product variety and value.
