Cambodia, Israel Forge High-Tech Alliance in AI, Engineering, and Smart Farming
AKP Phnom Penh, June 25, 2026 --
Cambodia and Israel have agreed to expand their bilateral education cooperation, pivoting toward artificial intelligence (AI), engineering, and advanced agricultural technology to future-proof Cambodia’s workforce.
The commitment came during a Wednesday meeting between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, and Israeli Ambassador H.E. Ms. Alona Fisher-Kamm.
While Israel’s ongoing support under an existing agreement focuses on education, agriculture, and water management, the new talks added ambitious pillars: AI curriculum integration, university partnerships between the two nations, and joint research via innovation centres.
Both sides also plan to broaden Israeli-funded internship and scholarship programmes beyond agriculture to include engineering tracks, equipping Cambodian students for a tech-driven global economy.
Historically, cooperation has flowed through MASHAV, Israel’s development agency, which offers training for Cambodian educators in STEM, early childhood education, and management. Separately, hundreds of Cambodian university students annually undertake 11-month practical internships on modern Israeli farms.
Minister Hang Chuon Naron hailed Israel’s backing as closely aligned with Cambodia’s national strategy for human capital and socioeconomic development, underscoring the partnership’s growing strategic value.
