Cambodia Seeks to Strengthen Trade and Investment Cooperation with Türkiye and Israel
AKP Phnom Penh, June 23, 2026 --
H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, held separate courtesy meetings with the ambassadors of Türkiye and Israel to Cambodia on Tuesday afternoon to discuss strengthening bilateral trade and expanding economic cooperation.
During her meeting at the Ministry of Commerce with H.E. Mesut Özcan, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to the Kingdom of Cambodia, both sides reviewed the positive growth in bilateral trade relations.
The discussions highlighted progress following the establishment of the Turkish Commercial Counselor’s Office in Cambodia and the Cambodian Trade Attaché’s Office in Türkiye, which have contributed to enhancing trade exchanges between the two countries.
Both sides also underscored the significance of the Cambodia-Türkiye Joint Economic Commission (JEC) as a comprehensive framework for bilateral cooperation covering a broad range of sectors, including trade and investment, agriculture, industry, technology, education, tourism, and healthcare.
They further expressed readiness to explore opportunities to expand cooperation into new areas during the 5th meeting of the Cambodia-Türkiye Joint Economic Commission, which is expected to be held in Phnom Penh in the near future.
On the same day, the Cambodian Commerce Minister also received H.E. Dr. Alona Fisher-Kamm, Ambassador of Israel to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on opportunities to promote bilateral trade, diversify traded products, strengthen private-sector engagement, and enhance cooperation in agriculture, innovation, technology, and other sectors with strong growth potential.
The two sides emphasised the importance of establishing a joint trade mechanism to facilitate business and investment activities and encourage exchanges of visits between private-sector representatives of both countries.
They also discussed promoting participation in trade promotion events, including the Cambodia Trade Expo, as a platform to showcase products and expand business opportunities in dynamic and emerging sectors.
