Cambodia to Host VECONAC’s 38th Executive Board Meeting and 25th General Assembly in October
AKP Phnom Penh, June 22, 2026 --
The Kingdom of Cambodia will host the 38th Executive Board Meeting and the 25th General Assembly of the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) in October 2026 in Phnom Penh.
In preparation for the upcoming events, the 7th Working Committee Meeting of VECONAC, hosted by Cambodia, was held virtually on Monday morning at the headquarters of the Cambodian Veterans and Pensioners Association in Kean Svay district, Kandal province.
The meeting brought together heads of delegations from the ASEAN member countries to review, discuss, and refine key documents, meeting agendas, programme arrangements, draft resolutions, and preparatory plans for the forthcoming Executive Board Meeting and General Assembly.
The discussions also focused on organising substantive content and action plans in advance to ensure the successful conduct of the regional gathering.
The upcoming VECONAC meetings will provide an important platform for representatives of veterans’ associations across ASEAN to exchange views and identify common strategies aimed at improving the welfare, livelihoods, and benefits of veterans, persons with disabilities, and families of fallen soldiers throughout the region.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. General Meas Savan, Permanent Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodian Veterans and Pensioners Association and Secretary-General of VECONAC.
VECONAC was established on Dec. 19, 1980 and is composed of veterans associations of the ten ASEAN Member States.
It is the second time for Cambodia to host these regional events. Phnom Penh welcomes the VECONAC’s 32nd Executive Board Meeting and 19th General Assembly from Dec. 8 to 12, 2019.
Cambodia has taken over as VECONAC Chair since Jan. 1, 2026 for a period of one year.
