Romanian President to Visit Cambodia for Francophonie Summit
AKP Phnom Penh, June 17, 2026 --
Romanian President is expected to visit Cambodia in November 2026 to attend the Summit of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), accompanied by a delegation and business representatives.
The planned visit was announced by H.E. Dacian Julien Cioloş, Adviser to the President of Romania and candidate for the post of OIF Secretary-General, during a meeting with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace on June 17.
On the occasion, H.E. Cioloş congratulated Cambodia on hosting the Francophonie Summit in November, describing the event as an important opportunity for the Kingdom to enhance its role and contribution within the Francophone community.
He also conveyed greetings from the Romanian President to His Majesty the King of Cambodia and to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, while reaffirming Romania’s commitment to strengthening relations with Cambodia.
Samdech Techo welcomed the planned visit by the Romanian President and delegation, and shared views on the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation through the OIF. He further encouraged greater exchanges among member states in areas including economic cooperation, trade, investment, and political relations.
Cambodia is going to host the 20th Francophonie Summit on Nov. 15-16, 2026, bringing together heads of state and government, and representatives from around 90 French-speaking countries and institutions.
