Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology Receives Singaporean Ambassador
AKP Phnom Penh, June 11, 2026 -- H.E. Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, received here on June 11 H.E. Steven Pang Chee Wee, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore Cambodia, and his delegation for a courtesy call and working discussion.
During the meeting, the Minister extended his congratulations to Ambassador Steven Pang Chee Wee on his appointment and underscored the close and long-standing relations between Cambodia and Singapore, as well as the fruitful cooperation and strong partnership that the two countries have fostered across numerous sectors over the years.
H.E. Thor Chetha also briefed the delegation on the Ministry's key role as the Royal Government of Cambodia's lead institution for water resources management and meteorological services, including the management of water resources to support all sectors, the provision of weather forecasts and early warnings, and the continued development of infrastructure and the water resources and meteorology sectors.
These efforts aim to ensure water security, enhance resilience to climate change, promote economic growth, and contribute to poverty reduction in line with the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy – Phase 1 under the National Assembly of the seventh legislature.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors, particularly in the fields of water resources and meteorology, through initiatives such as technical capacity-building and leadership development, for the mutual benefit of the two nations and peoples.
