AKP Phnom Penh, June 11, 2026 -- Cambodia’s exports continued to show strong momentum in the first five months of 2026, reaching US$14.04 billion, up 19 percent from US$11.8 billion during the same period last year, according to a report released by the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE) on June 10.

The United States remained Cambodia’s largest export market, accounting for US$5.73 billion in shipments, or more than 40 percent of the country’s total exports.

Vietnam ranked second, importing Cambodian goods worth US$2.32 billion, followed by China at US$753.37 million.

Japan and Canada also remained important destinations, receiving exports valued at US$760.3 million and US$498.02 million respectively.

Mr. Thong Mengdavid, Deputy Director of the China-ASEAN Studies Centre at the Cambodia University of Technology and Science, said the figures demonstrate the resilience of Cambodia’s export sector despite ongoing global economic and security uncertainties.

“Cambodia’s expanding integration into international markets thanks to trade agreements such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and bilateral free trade agreements with China, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates,” he said.

He also highlighted the country’s gradual diversification beyond traditional garment exports into agricultural products and higher value-added industries, alongside continued strong demand from the U.S. market.

The latest trade figures are consistent with the World Bank’s June 2026 economic update, which described Cambodia’s economy as resilient amid external challenges.

The institution reported that goods exports grew by 17.7 percent in the first quarter of 2026 and projected economic growth of 3.9 percent this year, rising to 4.9 percent in 2027.

Cambodia’s imports totalled US$16.03 billion during the January–May period, an increase of 18.9 percent year-on-year.
