MCC Declares Cambodia’s First ‘Hope Spot’ in Kep Archipelago as Proof of Marine Recovery
AKP Phnom Penh, June 09, 2026 --
The Kep Archipelago has emerged as a living testament to marine restoration, proving that marine ecosystems can successfully recover through steadfast commitment, strong collaboration, and targeted conservation efforts, according to the Marine Conservation Cambodia (MCC).
In a statement released Tuesday, MCC highlighted its ongoing daily initiatives to support Cambodia’s coastal communities, protect marine biodiversity, and enhance ocean resilience.
These efforts are being conducted in close partnership with key stakeholders, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the French Development Agency (AFD), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Fisheries Administration, local fisheries communities, and various dedicated partner organisations.
The ecological turnaround in the waters of Kep province serves as a powerful reminder that when collective action is taken to protect nature, environmental recovery transitions from a distant hope into a tangible reality, MCC added.
