Cambodia, Timor-Leste Deepen Digital Cooperation Following Launch of Document Verification Platform
AKP Phnom Penh, June 03, 2026 --
Cambodia and Timor-Leste are rapidly expanding their bilateral digital partnership following the successful launch of Timor-Leste’s national document verification platform.
H.E. Chea Vandeth, Cambodia’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Digital Government Committee, held a series of high-level meetings in Dili to map out future technology cooperation between the two Southeast Asian nations.
Minister Chea Vandeth met with H.E. Miguel Marques Gonçalves Manetelu, Timor-Leste’s Minister of Transport and Communications. The two officials discussed the next phases of collaboration following the recent rollout of Timor-Leste's verification platform, verify.gov.tl, which is currently being used for driver's licenses.
Moving forward, both sides agreed to expand the platform's scope to include civil registration and educational documents. They also pledged to enhance bilateral cooperation in cybersecurity and human resource development in the technology sector.
In a separate session organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Minister Chea Vandeth met with Timor-Leste's Minister of Education, H.E. Ms. Dulce de Jesus Soares. During the meeting, the Cambodian delegation shared key insights and experience from the successful implementation of Cambodia's own verification portal, verify.gov.kh, within its national education sector.
The diplomatic push follows the official launch of verify.gov.tl on June 1. During his visit, Minister Chea Vandeth also paid a courtesy call on Timor-Leste’s Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Francisco Kalbuadi Lay.
The Cambodian Minister briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on the progress of Cambodia's digital transformation initiatives and reiterated Phnom Penh's commitment to sharing its technological expertise to foster stronger digital governance across both nations.
