Cambodia, China Reaffirm 'Ironclad' Friendship and Broad Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, June 02, 2026 -- Cambodia and China have reaffirmed their enduring "ironclad" friendship and committed to deepening bilateral cooperation across all sectors, officials said.
During a meeting on Monday afternoon, H.E. Dr. Thun Vathana, Second Vice President of the Cambodian Senate, met with H.E. Hu Changsheng, Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
H.E. Vathana emphasised the steadfast foreign policy stance of Cambodia and the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), reiterating their unwavering support for the "One China Policy." He described China and the CPC as close brothers, highlighting their shared commitment to building a Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the new era.
The Senate Vice President agreed to further promote and expand cooperation between Cambodian provinces and China's Gansu Province, specifically targeting sectors such as education, research, agriculture, culture, tourism, trade, and investment. He also extended an invitation to H.E. Hu Changsheng and business leaders from Gansu to visit Cambodia to explore emerging business opportunities and economic potential.
Turning to regional security and stability, H.E. Vathana addressed the ongoing situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border. While acknowledging current complexities, he expressed confidence that the border situation would soon return to normalcy. He credited this outlook to China's facilitation and constructive role in promoting peaceful resolutions rooted in United Nations mechanisms and international law.
The two sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming that the "ironclad" bond between Cambodia and China remains permanent and comprehensive across all areas of mutual interest.
