Cambodia Opens 10,000+ Local Jobs in Pursat as Labour Ministry Pushes ‘Khmer Help Khmer’ Hiring Drive
AKP Phnom Penh, May 30, 2026 --
More than 10,000 local jobs are up for grabs in Pursat province, as Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training steps up a national employment push with free skills training and full social security coverage.
The campaign took centre stage Friday at a job forum in Kravanh district under the theme “Khmer Helping Khmers Find and Provide Jobs.” Nearly 800 attendees – including local residents, youth, and returning migrant workers – turned out for the event.
Speaking on behalf of Labour Minister H.E. Heng Sour, State Secretary H.E. Leng Se said the Royal Government has already facilitated over 90,000 domestic job openings nationwide.
“For Pursat province alone, we have secured 10,732 vacancies from local factories, enterprises, and special economic zones,” he confirmed.
H.E. Leng Se urged job seekers to choose legal domestic work, which comes with full registration in the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). Enrolled workers receive the same protections as civil servants: occupational risk coverage, healthcare, and pensions.
On overseas employment, he warned strongly against illegal recruitment scams. Anyone seeking work in Japan, South Korea, or Australia should verify licensed agencies with local authorities. Ministry hotlines: 1297 – Job matching; 1286 – NSSF inquiries.
Alongside immediate job placements, the ministry is aggressively promoting its TVET programme (Technical and Vocational Education and Training), aiming for “at least one life skill per citizen.”
Free courses at the Pursat Polytechnic Institute cover high-demand skills: electrical repair, construction, and hospitality services. Students receive monthly financial stipends and a guaranteed job placement upon graduation.
The career forum was backed by major private sector employers and various special economic zones (SEZs).
