Cambodia Rejects False Reports on Expired Immigration Waivers for Africans
AKP Phnom Penh, May 29, 2026 —
The General Department of Immigration (GDI) of Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior has dismissed as false recent online reports claiming that Cambodia ordered Africans with expired immigration waivers to leave the country by May 31, 2026.
In a press clarification issued on May 29, the GDI stated that certain websites, including campaigneronline.com and newsghana.com, had published inaccurate information in English under the headline: “Cambodia Orders Africans with Expired Immigration Waivers to Leave by May 31, 2026.”
“The information published on those websites is completely untrue,” the General Department of Immigration stressed.
The GDI urged both national and international audiences to rely only on official sources for accurate information regarding Cambodia’s immigration policies and procedures.
The public can access official updates through the GDI’s website at www.immigration.gov.kh or contact the hotline at (+855) 78 38 66 99 for further information.
