Outgoing Swiss Ambassador: Switzerland to Continue Support for Cambodia’s Socio-Economic Development
AKP Phnom Penh, May 26, 2026 -- Outgoing Swiss Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Pedro ZWAHLEN has reaffirmed Switzerland’s continued support for Cambodia’s socio-economic development, particularly in the healthcare sector.
The Ambassador made the remarks during a farewell courtesy call on Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on the morning of May 26.
During the meeting, Ambassador ZWAHLEN praised Cambodia’s rapid development and expressed pride and satisfaction over serving his diplomatic mission in the Kingdom, where he gained valuable experience and deeper understanding of Cambodia’s rich history, culture, and civilisation.
The outgoing diplomat also highly valued the progress of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed the Swiss government’s continued support for Cambodia’s socio-economic development, especially its assistance to Kantha Bopha hospitals.
In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly appreciated the Ambassador’s active role in strengthening and expanding bilateral relations and cooperation during his diplomatic tenure in Cambodia.
The Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude to the Swiss government and people for their continued support for Cambodia’s socio-economic development, particularly contributions to Kantha Bopha hospitals.
Samdech Thipadei underlined that the Royal Government considers strengthening the healthcare sector and improving the well-being of the people among Cambodia’s top priorities.
He also expressed satisfaction with the positive progress in bilateral cooperation and highlighted the strong potential for Cambodia and Switzerland to further expand cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, investment, trade, and vocational training.
During the meeting, Samdech Thipadei also briefed the Ambassador on recent developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to resolving border issues peacefully based on international law and in accordance with existing conventions, treaties, and agreements between the two countries.
Ambassador ZWAHLEN stated that Switzerland supports the continued implementation of the ceasefire by both sides and the peaceful settlement of border issues in line with international law and the rules-based international order.
