Cambodia Launches Journalism Training to Boost Digital Skills, Media Ethics
AKP Phnom Penh, May 25, 2026 --
Cambodia’s Ministry of Information on Monday launched a five-day intensive journalism training programme aimed at upgrading the digital skills and professional ethics of local reporters and media officials.
The programme, titled “Journalism Technical Skills,” is being attended by 105 technical officers and journalists from various ministry departments, provincial information departments, and licensed media outlets.
Organised by the Ministry’s Human Capital Development Commission in Information and Audiovisual Sector, the training runs from May 25 to 29 at the Ministry’s Media Training Centre.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Information Minister H.E. Neth Pheaktra emphasised that the initiative is vital for raising the quality, accuracy, and relevance of Cambodian media in the digital era.
"This training is a crucial part of elevating Cambodia's information sector," H.E. Neth Pheaktra said. "Through knowledge-sharing by expert trainers, participants will acquire modern skills in news writing, digital content production, interviewing, photography, videography, fact-checking, and the utilisation of advanced media technologies."
The Minister added that the Royal Government remains committed to human resource development to ensure local journalism evolves ethically and professionally amid global technological shifts.
H.E. Dr. Chhay Sophal, Secretary of State and head of the Ministry's human capital development technical team, noted that the curriculum also places a heavy emphasis on media ethics. The goal, he said, is to ensure that journalists operate responsibly and adhere to high professional standards while navigating the rapidly changing digital landscape.
