Banteay Meanchey Officials Deliver PM’s Gifts to 280 Military Families on National Day of Remembrance
AKP Phnom Penh, May 21, 2026 --
Provincial officials in Banteay Meanchey on May 20 distributed humanitarian aid from Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse, Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony, to 280 military families on Wednesday, coinciding with Cambodia’s annual National Day of Remembrance honouring the nation’s fallen and serving armed forces.
Provincial leaders personally visited the families to deliver the packages. The aid was split between 55 families under the Banteay Meanchey Military Operation Sub-Region and 225 families from Infantry Brigade 51 in Preah Netr Preah district.
During the visits, Governor Oum Reatrey conveyed the Prime Minister’s deep gratitude for the military’s service, reaffirming the Royal Government’s commitment to frontline personnel and their dependents. “Our military forces are the backbone of the nation,” he said. “The Royal Government and the Cambodian people will always remain grateful for their noble sacrifices in defending our territorial integrity and maintaining peace for national development.”
Military family representatives thanked the leadership, noting that continuous support boosts morale and substantially eases household financial burdens. The packages included essential food supplies, daily commodities, and cash assistance.
Cambodia observes the National Day of Remembrance every May 20 to commemorate Khmer Rouge regime victims and honour those who fought to rebuild the country.
