Tourism Ministry and ADB Discuss Sustainable Tourism Development
AKP Phnom Penh, May 20, 2026 --
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Cambodia organised a high-level roundtable discussion on “ASEAN Sustainable and Resilient Tourism Investment Outlook 2030” on May 19 to discuss sustainable tourism development in Cambodia.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism; Ms. Yasmin Siddiqi, Country Director of ADB Cambodia; as well as representatives from public and private institutions, national and international chambers of commerce, associations, investors, and experts at the ADB headquarters.
The discussion focused on tourism investment priorities, enhancing the investment environment, and promoting sustainable tourism development in Cambodia and across the ASEAN region.
During the consultation, which centred on exchanging perspectives and exploring new opportunities for sustainable and resilient tourism investment, H.E. Huot Hak highlighted Cambodia’s strong tourism potential in culture, history, nature, and green tourism, all of which align with current global tourism trends.
Cambodia continues to develop integrated infrastructure and improve connectivity to facilitate travel, reduce travel time, and attract more investors and international tourists, he added.
H.E. Minister also highlighted the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaign, which promotes travel during the rainy season while showcasing Cambodia’s rich natural beauty.
The campaign is guided by six key messages: “Must See, Must Stay, Must Taste, Must Visit, Must Try, and Must Buy,” aiming to provide visitors with new experiences and strengthen Cambodia’s appeal as a year-round tourism destination.
H.E. Huot Hak further stressed that investment in the tourism sector not only contributes to economic growth, but also plays an important role in job creation, improving livelihoods, and supporting sustainable local community development in line with Cambodia’s and ASEAN’s Tourism Development Vision 2030.
