Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, on May 8 afternoon, on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, the Philippines.

During the meeting, H.E. Anwar Ibrahim expressed his pleasure at meeting Samdech Thipadei once again, noting that the frequent meetings between the two leaders reflect the strong relations and close cooperation between Malaysia and Cambodia.

The Malaysian Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction with the progress of bilateral ties and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to further strengthening and broadening the relationship, particularly by expanding cooperation in potential sectors for the mutual benefit of the two nations and peoples.

In response, Samdech Thipadei thanked H.E. Anwar Ibrahim for his active role in facilitating two ceasefires between Cambodia and Thailand on July 28 and Dec. 27, 2025. Samdech Thipadei stressed that the Malaysian Prime Minister’s role reflected the spirit of ASEAN solidarity and demonstrated the important contribution of ASEAN member states in ensuring regional stability, prosperity, and sustainability.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei discussed with H.E. Anwar Ibrahim ways to promote trade and investment cooperation, particularly in the halal industry, which Cambodia considers a highly promising sector in its trade relations with Malaysia.

Samdech Thipadei also expressed appreciation to the Malaysian government for supporting Cambodia by sending halal food experts to assist in developing infrastructure and support mechanisms aimed at enabling Cambodia to obtain certification rights for halal food exports.

Before concluding the meeting, the two leaders also exchanged views on maintaining regional peace and stability, as well as strengthening and expanding Cambodia-Malaysia bilateral cooperation in the fields of defence and security.
