Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Agree to Further Strengthen Cooperation Across All Sectors

Prime Ministers of Cambodia, Lao PDR and Viet Nam have expressed satisfaction with the close ties and progress of cooperation across all sectors and vowed to further deepen their relationship.
At a working breakfast in Cebu, the Philippines on Friday morning, on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and H.E. Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, underscored the importance of the traditional breakfast meeting among the three Premiers as a platform for exchanging views and further enhancing strategic cooperation.
The leaders stressed that amid increasingly complex regional and global developments, strengthening relations and expanding cooperation among the three countries is becoming even more important.
The three leaders also discussed priorities and initiatives aimed at further promoting cooperation in politics, security and defence, economy and trade, investment, physical infrastructure connectivity, energy connectivity, and tourism connectivity, including increasing direct flights among the three countries.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation to strengthen regional supply chains based on the comparative advantages of each country. He further highlighted the need to continue advancing physical infrastructure connectivity to facilitate cross-border travel and trade.
Regarding cooperation with Laos, Samdech Thipadei urged relevant authorities to expedite the selection of a site for the construction of a bridge linking the Ropov River in Cambodia and the Selampao River in Laos. Regarding cooperation with Vietnam, he encouraged authorities to accelerate the identification of connection points between the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway projects.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei proposed exploring the feasibility of developing a trilateral electricity connectivity project through the use of existing transmission networks. He also encouraged the relevant authorities of the three countries to study the possibility of creating joint tourism packages.
Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei invited the leaders of Lao PDR and Viet Nam to attend the 20th Francophonie Summit, which Cambodia will host in November this year.
