Kampong Cham Governor Urges Stung Trang Durian Community to Create Product Branding to Strengthen Market Reputation
AKP Phnom Penh, May 08, 2026 -- Kampong Cham Provincial Governor H.E. Un Chanda has encouraged durian farmers and communities in Stung Trang district to establish a clear product branding identity in order to enhance the value of local agricultural products and prevent counterfeit use of the “Stung Trang Durian” name.
The remarks were made during the Governor’s visit to a durian farming community in Roka Tnout commune, Stung Trang district, on the morning of May 8.
During the visit, H.E. Un Chanda highlighted that Stung Trang durian is a high-potential agricultural product widely recognised for its distinctive taste and quality. However, he noted that durians imported from other areas have at times been falsely marketed under the Stung Trang name, affecting the product’s reputation and true market value.
The Governor urged the community to work closely with relevant technical departments to create a logo and official product label identifying the authentic origin of “Stung Trang Durian.” He also recommended the use of QR code labels on individual durians, allowing consumers to easily scan and verify the source of the fruit.
In addition, he encouraged farmers to continue adhering to proper agricultural practices to ensure food safety and maintain consumer confidence.
Members of the Stung Trang durian community welcomed the recommendations and expressed strong support for the initiative. They pledged to strengthen the organisation and structure of the community with the aim of developing Stung Trang durian into a prominent agricultural brand of Kampong Cham province.
