Cambodia to Host Francophone Parliamentary Meeting and AI Workshop in Siem Reap
AKP Phnom Penh, April 30, 2026 --
Cambodia’s Parliament, in cooperation with the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF), will host a political committee meeting and a workshop on digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) in Siem Reap province from May 2 to 4, 2026.
According to a press release from the Senate Secretariat made public this morning, the event will bring together around 110 participants, including members and senior officials from the Cambodian Senate and National Assembly, representatives of Francophone embassies in Cambodia, APF delegations from 17 countries, and national and international experts.
The workshop aims to strengthen parliamentary capacity, focusing on four key themes: understanding artificial intelligence, the role of parliamentarians in the AI landscape, regulatory and legislative frameworks for AI, and the use of AI tools in parliamentary work.
The APF Political Committee meeting, scheduled for May 3–4, will be held under the theme “The Role of Francophone Parliaments in Strengthening Peace and Stability in the Region and the World.” Discussions will cover the adoption of conclusions from the July 2025 meeting in Paris, updates on political developments in Francophone countries, national parliamentary activities, and the role of Francophone parliaments in promoting regional and global stability. Participants will also discuss recommendations to transform peace into a driving force for sustainable development.
A working session on revising the APF statutes will also take place on the afternoon of May 2.
On the sidelines of the meetings, delegates are scheduled to visit cultural and historical sites, including Angkor Wat and the Techo Peace Museum of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre in Siem Reap.
