Over 800 Tourists Arrive in Cambodia as Viking Orion Docks at Sihanoukville
AKP Phnom Penh, April 29, 2026 --
More than 800 international tourists – 629 of them American – arrived at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on Wednesday aboard the Norwegian-flagged cruise ship Viking Orion, marking a robust rebound for Cambodia’s post-pandemic maritime tourism.
The Viking Orion, a Norwegian-flagged vessel, arrived from Thailand at approximately 12:00 p.m. on April 29. The ship, measuring 228.3 metres in length and 28.8 metres in width, is scheduled to depart for Vietnam at 8:00 p.m. on April 30.
According to port immigration officials, the vessel is carrying 822 tourists (439 females) representing 23 different nationalities, supported by a crew of 467. The majority of the passengers – 629 in total – are citizens of the United States.
Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Preah Sihanouk Deputy Governor Samuth Sothearith and other provincial officials. To maximise the visitors' time in the coastal region, immigration authorities implemented expedited processing procedures.
While the majority of travellers planned to explore Sihanoukville’s local landmarks—including the Tumnup Rolok fishing village, traditional markets, coastal beaches, and cultural sites such as local pagodas—a small group of 33 tourists departed immediately for a specialised tour of the Angkor temples in Siem Reap province.
