Cambodia Welcomes Two Indonesian Officers Joining ASEAN Observer Team
AKP Phnom Penh, April 26, 2026 —
Cambodia has welcomed the arrival of two Indonesian military officers who will join the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) tasked with monitoring the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.
According to a press release made public on April 26, Lieutenant Colonel Devi Ibrahim and Major Rangga Hadi Saputra arrived at Techo International Airport on April 25 at 5:25 p.m. They were received by officials from Cambodia’s Department of International Relations and the Cambodia Liaison Group (CLG).
The two officers will serve as part of the ASEAN Observer Team, currently led by the Philippines, which is responsible for observing, verifying, and reporting on developments along the border to help ensure effective implementation of measures outlined in the Joint Statement between Cambodia and Thailand.
Cambodia said it continues to provide full support to the observer mission and emphasised the importance of strengthening the team’s role and mandate. Authorities said the presence of ASEAN observers is intended to help ensure that ceasefire arrangements and agreed measures between the two countries are fully and effectively implemented.
By welcoming officers from friendly ASEAN nations, Cambodia said it seeks to promote transparency, accountability, and mutual trust.
The Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of National Defence also reaffirmed their commitment to fully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee held on Dec. 27, 2025, as well as the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand signed on Oct. 26, 2025, along with other relevant agreements.
Cambodia said the objective of these commitments is to support rapid recovery, restore normalcy in border areas, and maintain long-term peace and stability.
