Chinese Language Lauded as ‘Cultural Bridge’ in Cambodia-China Ties
AKP Phnom Penh, April 21, 2026 -- Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wenbin on Monday hailed the Chinese language as a vital communication bridge and cultural bond of friendship, essential for deepening people-to-people ties and mutual understanding of Chinese civilization.
Speaking at International Chinese Language Day 2026 at the Confucius Institute of the Royal Academy of Cambodia, Ambassador Wang celebrated the “ironclad” friendship between the two nations, noting the successful integration of Chinese language instruction into Cambodia’s national education system.
He reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities for Cambodian youth as both nations work toward a “shared future.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron echoed the sentiment, stressing Chinese language proficiency as a strategic asset for the 21st century. He said it provides Cambodian youth a competitive edge in the global job market and drives national economic growth toward “Vision 2050” of becoming a high-income nation, while further fortifying ties with China.
The minister thanked the Chinese government for its continued support and urged students to leverage educational exchanges for future nation-building. The annual event is supported by the Chinese Embassy and the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation under China’s Ministry of Education.
