Samdech Techo Hun Sen Thanks Türkiye for Humanitarian Assistance to Cambodian Refugees

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, has expressed gratitude to the Republic of Türkiye for its humanitarian assistance to Cambodian displaced persons affected by the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict.
According to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, the appreciation was conveyed during a farewell courtesy call by H.E. Ms. Ülkü Kocaefe, Ambassador of Türkiye to Cambodia, whose diplomatic mission has come to an end. The meeting took place on the morning of April 8 at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh.
During the meeting, Samdech Techo praised the Ambassador's contributions in strengthening bilateral relations between Cambodia and Türkiye. He noted that ties between the two countries have continued to grow steadily, thanks in part to her efforts.
Ambassador Ülkü Kocaefe briefed Samdech Techo on key achievements during her tenure. These included the establishment of Türkiye’s trade office and cultural centre in Cambodia, as well as the launch of direct flights between the two countries in late 2025, which have significantly enhanced trade and people-to-people connectivity.
She also shared her deep appreciation for Cambodia and its people, noting that the warmth and smiles of the Cambodian people would remain unforgettable. Although her mission has concluded, she affirmed that she would remain a lifelong friend of Cambodia.
Samdech Techo welcomed her remarks and commended her dedication and achievements in promoting Cambodia-Türkiye relations. He reiterated his gratitude to Türkiye for its humanitarian support to Cambodian displaced persons and took the opportunity to brief the Ambassador on the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.
He reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm commitment to maintaining a lasting ceasefire and resolving border issues peacefully through dialogue and existing mechanisms.
