Banteay Meanchey Governor Brings Gifts, Gratitude to Border Troops Ahead of Khmer New Year
AKP Phnom Penh, April 08, 2026 --
Banteay Meanchey Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey on Tuesday visited frontline troops stationed along the provincial border to deliver gifts and moral support ahead of the upcoming Khmer New Year.
Accompanied by Provincial Council President H.E. Plek Vary and several high-ranking officials, the Governor presented food supplies, beverages, and cash donations to the units tasked with safeguarding the nation's territorial integrity.
The visit is part of a broader Royal Government initiative to honour the sacrifices of military personnel who remain on duty during the traditional holidays, often separated from their families to ensure national security.
During the gathering, Governor Oum Reatrey conveyed greetings and gratitude from Acting Head of State Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. He emphasised that the Royal Government maintains a steadfast commitment to the well-being and livelihood of the armed forces, describing them as the nation's "solid fence."
"This visit is more than a distribution of supplies; it is a profound expression of our gratitude for the sacrifices made by our troops," the Governor stated. "Their dedication at the border allows our citizens across the country to celebrate the festivities in peace and safety."
The Governor also commended the security forces for their high sense of responsibility in maintaining order and combating cross-border crime. He urged personnel to remain vigilant and prioritise their health while fulfilling their duties to the motherland.
The donated packages, which included rice, drinking water, and essential consumer goods, were intended to alleviate daily living expenses and foster a festive atmosphere within the military units.
In response, representatives of the frontline units expressed their deep appreciation to the provincial leadership and the national government, noting that such gestures provide significant encouragement and warmth to the troops during the holiday season.
