Foreign Minister Meets Cambodian Community in Australia, Highlights Strong Bilateral Ties

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn met with approximately 150 members of the Cambodian community from Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide during his visit to Australia.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Cambodian top diplomat conveyed the greetings of His Majesty the King, Samdech Techo HUN Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia. These greetings reflect the Royal Government’s care and concern for its people, affirming the principle of leaving no one behind—wherever they may live—as every Cambodian is part of one great national family.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that Cambodia–Australia relations have evolved into a Mature and Modern Partnership, built on more than 74 years of diplomatic ties dating back to 1952. He expressed his pleasure in making his first official visit in his capacity as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with key Australian leaders, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and the Minister for Defence. These engagements will strengthen multifaceted cooperation between Cambodia and Australia, supporting Cambodia’s economic priorities and advancing its core national interests.
The Royal Government of Cambodia continues to actively safeguard national sovereignty through coordinated military, diplomatic, and legal measures. The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Cambodian community in Australia for their solidarity and encouragement, which serves as a strong source of support for Cambodia’s frontline troops and helps strengthen the nation’s resolve.
